Refund and Cancellation Policy
Effective date: September 21, 2026
This Refund and Cancellation Policy applies to payments made to FinTax (“we,” “us,” or “our”) for services requested through https://fintax.cc or directly from FinTax.
Professional services are customized and may require FinTax to reserve capacity, review records, perform research, configure systems, or begin work before a deliverable is issued. This policy is intended to charge clients only for work performed and nonrecoverable costs incurred while returning any unearned prepaid balance.
1. Engagement-Specific Terms Control
Your proposal, engagement letter, statement of work, service order, invoice, or checkout page (collectively, the “Engagement Agreement”) may contain service-specific payment, cancellation, or refund terms. If those terms conflict with this policy, the Engagement Agreement controls for that service.
2. Advance Payments and Deposits
Unless an Engagement Agreement expressly and lawfully states otherwise, an advance payment or deposit is applied to fees as work is performed and to authorized, nonrecoverable third-party costs as they are incurred. It is not automatically earned merely because it was paid.
If an engagement ends before all prepaid services are performed, FinTax will prepare a final accounting and return any unearned balance after deducting:
- fees for work actually performed;
- fees allocated to completed milestones under the Engagement Agreement; and
- authorized third-party or government costs that cannot reasonably be recovered.
For a flat-fee project without stated milestone values, FinTax may calculate the earned portion using documented time, the work completed, the complexity of that work, and FinTax’s then-applicable rates, subject to applicable law and the total agreed fee.
3. Cancellation Before Work Begins
If you cancel in writing before FinTax begins substantive work, FinTax will refund amounts paid, less any payment-processing fee or third-party cost that was disclosed, actually incurred, nonrecoverable, and lawfully deductible.
Administrative onboarding alone will not be treated as completion of the substantive engagement, but reasonable onboarding work specifically required for your matter may be included in the final accounting.
4. Cancellation After Work Begins
You may request cancellation by emailing info@fintax.cc. FinTax will take reasonable steps to stop work, subject to professional duties, imminent deadlines, and actions needed to prevent foreseeable harm. You remain responsible for fees earned and costs incurred through the effective cancellation date.
FinTax will refund any unearned prepaid balance after completing the final accounting. A change of mind, decision to use another provider, refusal to provide documents, or delay in responding does not erase fees for work already performed.
5. Completed, Delivered, or Filed Services
Fees earned for completed services are generally not refundable. A service is considered completed when the agreed work has been substantially performed, delivered, made available for review, or filed with your authorization, as applicable.
This does not limit any remedy required by law or any obligation in an Engagement Agreement. If you believe FinTax materially failed to perform the agreed service, contact us promptly so we can review the issue and, where appropriate, correct the work, complete the omitted scope, credit an amount, or issue a refund.
6. Tax Returns, Refunds, Credits, and Agency Decisions
FinTax does not guarantee the amount or timing of a tax refund, credit, deduction, liability, agency acceptance, or audit result. A taxing authority’s delay, offset, adjustment, rejection, examination, or disagreement is not by itself grounds for a fee refund.
If a filing is rejected because of a correctable transmission or preparation issue within FinTax’s agreed scope, FinTax will use reasonable efforts to correct and retransmit it without an additional preparation fee. Additional fees may apply when correction requires new services or results from inaccurate, incomplete, late, or changed client information.
Taxes, penalties, interest, and other amounts paid to a government are not payments to FinTax and cannot be refunded by FinTax.
7. Recurring Bookkeeping and Advisory Services
Recurring services may be canceled for future periods in the manner and with the notice stated in the Engagement Agreement. Cancellation stops future renewal charges after the effective cancellation date but does not reverse fees already earned for the current service period.
If a prepaid recurring period ends before all prepaid services are earned, any unearned balance will be handled under Section 2 unless the Engagement Agreement lawfully provides a different allocation.
8. Consultations and Appointments
There is no refund issue for a consultation advertised and provided as free.
For a paid consultation, you may reschedule or cancel without charge by giving at least 24 hours’ notice, unless the booking page states a different period before purchase. A fee may be treated as earned for a late cancellation or no-show because the time was reserved and could not reasonably be reassigned. FinTax may waive or credit the fee in its discretion for an emergency or other good cause.
If FinTax cancels a paid consultation and the parties do not reschedule, the consultation fee will be refunded.
9. Nonrefundable Third-Party Costs
Government filing fees, expedited-service fees, postage, software charges, identity-verification charges, payment-processing fees, and other third-party expenses are refundable only to the extent the third party returns them to FinTax or applicable law requires a refund. FinTax will not deduct an undisclosed or unincurred third-party charge.
10. Client Delays and Incomplete Information
FinTax may pause or terminate an engagement if you do not provide complete information, approvals, signatures, or payment by requested dates. The final fee and any refund will be determined based on work performed and costs incurred, not merely on whether the final filing or deliverable was completed.
FinTax is not responsible for a missed deadline or adverse result caused by late, incomplete, inaccurate, withheld, or changed information, or by a client’s failure to review, approve, sign, file, or pay on time.
11. FinTax Declines or Terminates an Engagement
If FinTax declines an engagement before substantive work begins, FinTax will return the amount paid, less any disclosed, actually incurred, nonrecoverable third-party cost permitted by law.
If FinTax terminates after work begins, FinTax will provide a final accounting and return any unearned prepaid balance. FinTax may terminate for nonpayment, conflict of interest, inability to verify identity, suspected unlawful activity, client noncooperation, abusive conduct, professional or licensing restrictions, or another reason permitted by the Engagement Agreement or law.
12. How to Request a Refund
Email info@fintax.cc with the subject line “Refund Request” and include:
- your name and contact information;
- the service, invoice, and payment date;
- the reason for the request; and
- any documents that help explain the request.
Please submit a request promptly after the issue arises, preferably within 30 days. This requested timeframe does not waive a nonwaivable legal right.
FinTax generally will acknowledge the request within five business days and aims to communicate a decision or request additional information within ten business days. An approved refund generally will be sent to the original payment method within ten business days after the final accounting, although banks and payment processors may take additional time.
13. Payment Disputes and Chargebacks
Contact FinTax before initiating a chargeback so we have an opportunity to investigate and provide a final accounting. A chargeback does not automatically cancel an engagement or determine whether fees were earned. Nothing in this section waives your lawful rights or prevents you from contacting a regulator or payment provider.
14. Changes to This Policy
FinTax may update this policy prospectively by posting a revised version with a new effective date. The policy in effect when you purchase a service will apply unless an Engagement Agreement or applicable law provides otherwise.
